Character Class Races

Picture
Traditional D&D races:  Pictured here are your typical races for player characters in Old School D&D. No, you may not add in any additional races.  In fact, you are about to discover things are a bit more limited than you initially hoped/feared they would be....

Races in this campaign world:
Humans are the overwhelming race to encounter in this world.  They come in a variety of distinctive nationalities.  Follow the link to the Human page for more details.
Elves are your fairly standard D&D elf.  There are a few different 'nationalities/cultures'; but racially they are the same.  Follow the link to the Elf page for more details.
Half-elves also meet your standard D&D expectations.  They tend to try to fit in with the culture they live in.  Follow the Half-elf page to find a few interesting additions.
Half-orcs/orcs - NO.  Among the NPC's - fine.  But a PC half-orc/orc will have an extremely short career in this world.  All the other PC races hate and hunt them.
Dwarves are fairly standard D&D dwarves with some interesting cultural aspects.  Follow the Dwarf page to find out more.
Halflings are not available.  The elves of this world have a dim memory of them, but they have apparently vanished.
Gnomes are definitely not standard D&D and are very limited (and not recommended) as a PC race.  Gnomes are extremely serious, extremely law abiding, and a fairly insular society.  Gnomes are out and about in the world for one of two reasons: business or they are outcasts.  Being an outcast gnome would not only be difficult to play in this world, but would also hamper the Party. Forget the picture - the size is about the only accurate part; there's the gray skin, extreme seriousness, .....  Follow the link to the Gnome page for more details.
