Homepage and Overview of Robins' Homebrew
Welcome to my 'Old School home-blend'. I have borrowed extensively from Advanced Dungeon and Dragons 2nd Edition and Castles and Crusades (hence 'blend' rather than
'brew') plus other odds & ends and some of my own material. This website is intended for my players. If you are a visitor, feel free to browse/borrow/plunder, but be advised much of the material is taken verbatim from the above guides (i.e. do not offend the Copyright Gods!
Purpose: I wanted a game that was simpler for the players (in terms of rules and options) while having a game richer in options that allows the players to be inventive and much more interactive in the game world. Pathfinder and 5E players will find there are fewer character class and race options and their characters are less powerful at the same level. But, it is much easier to learn the rules and play the game provided you are ready to role play and think. For example, there is no 'Diplomacy' roll - it's up to the player to talk his/her way out of it. Interacting with the world is much more important, which can be to the clever player's considerable advantage. For example, there are many realistic/commonsense ways to use the situation and the environment to surprise the other side and avoid being surprised (a successful ambush gives the attacker a free round of attacks). In my opinion, it makes for a much more fun and involved game.
I will be using these rules to run campaigns in a modified Paksenarrion world (Elizabeth Moon's creation - link to the campaign world). This goal affects material presented on this site as certain aspects needed to be modified (for example, gnomes are far different in Moon's world and not a PC race).
