Magic - Arcane Spells

Wizard and Sorcerer spells are the same in all ways except Sorcerers do not use/need any material components or focus. Sorcerers only require gestures, verbal components, and a certain amount of life force (wizards do not expend life force when casting).
Illusionist spells get their own section due to the significant differences between wizard and illusionist magic.
Readers will note this relationship - as spells increase in level, they decrease in number. There are several reasons for this situation. Magic users are much more inclined to share lower level spells than higher level spells. Lower level spells are more likely to be developed - adventuresome/foolhardy mages will develop these spells first and are much more likely to survive their experimentation. Likewise, apprentices will have developed a variety of cantrips - both for amusement but also to lessen their work. Again, surviving these experiences is possible while a failed attempt at a higher level spell.... Lastly, higher level arcane casters are much more likely to be cautious with creating new spells and using their wealth and power to find proven, previously unknown spells....
Finally, the player will note there are presently no active links to these spells. My approach is the players do not get to pick their spells from a list. The player's character may get to pick a spell from the list their instructor knows when they go up a level. Likewise, the beginning wizard/illusionist will have a degree of choice from their master's list. Otherwise, an arcane caster just acquires the spells he finds - be it written down or in trade to another wizard. It provides a more... realistic... experience where an arcane character will pay much more attention to any news of other wizards or possible places where there just might be a scroll or two. Once a spell is known to exist and described to the arcane character, I'll post it. However, be warned, if something happens to the wizard and his spellbook with that spell you desperately wanted - you'll need to find another source. Also, because I'm feeling generous with advice right now, a backup copy of your spellbook in a safe place is extremely highly recommended. After all, spellbooks are paper and ink....
